Epilogue: Part 1
Jiyong doesn't look up from the bottom of the cocktail glass, remembers the gin and vermouth splashing in it earlier. Now it's empty. He frowns. Needs more gin, this time and olives. Oh, how he loves olives.
This time Jiyong looks up, ready to snap at the offender.
"Hyung," he says instead; sees Seunghyun on the bar stool next to him, "why are you here?"
Seunghyun arches an eyebrow. "Last time I heard, it's a free world, dongsaeng."
Scoffing, Jiyong complains, "Bae must have sent you. I call him but somehow I get you instead."
Seunghyun barks out laughter. "Is that really such a bad deal?"
"Honestly?" Jiyong rests his head in front of the cool marble bar, nose nearly touching the stem of the martini glass. "I guess not."
"Bae had to go to Japan, remember? Called me and told me it was an emergency. Apparently you're too drunk and sad to get your ass back safely. I'm on a filming break anyway so I agreed."
"Huh. I thought heard Japanese when I spoke to him. And I wasn't very inebriated when I called him, but sad? Hyung, haven't you seen me lately?"
"You think you're the fucking portrait of happiness?" Seunghyun snorts, downs a shot.
"No. That'll be you and Bae, hyung." Jiyong smirks lazily.
"Is it that obvious?" the elder says wryly.
Jiyong rolls his eyes. "You guys seem to be frolicking in your lovey-dovey garden of happiness."
"We're not lovey-dovey!" Seunghyun looks mortified.
"Close enough. I'm going to get diabetes from all that sweetness."
The shy glances, the not-so-secret hand-touching, sharing earphones and that perpetual, identical looks etched on their faces. His heart involuntarily clenches because once upon a time, he was the recipient of all those gestures; found them annoying, irritating, a waste of time. Yet if he could, he'd want them back again. And this time he wouldn't complain; would give anything at that moment - his skills, his fame, his money just for Seungri to come back again.
"Penny for your thoughts."
Jiyong raises an eyebrow. "I'm quite sure my thoughts are worth more than that."
Seunghyun considers this and orders another round for the both of them. "Seungri on your mind?" Seunghyun guesses, even though really, that much is obvious.
"Bae told you?"
Seunghyun smiles awkwardly. "About that," he coughs. "Just. Thank you, Ji." Seunghyun's earnestly says.
Despite his inner turmoil, Jiyong summons a genuine smile. "I'm glad, hyung. I am, really."
"I never thought, you know. I thought I was doomed to pine after him forever like a pathetic fool because he was in love with you. But then Bae tells me he loves me," Seunghyun chuckles, remembering the fond memory, "You're a good friend, Ji. I'm thankful to you for all you've done for Bae and I."
"You're such a sap, hyung." Jiyong deadpans, even though he feels a sincere gladness for his friends. He grins. "Bae loves you and I in different ways anyway."
Seunghyun gives Jiyong a look. "Don't change the subject. What are you going to do about Ri?"
And there it is, that phantom ache again. Jiyong gulps down his martini.
"What about Ri?" he laughs dryly. " It's the fucking end. I told him how I really felt about everything. Fucking begged him to come back to me; said everything I should have said and everything I wanted to say."
Jiyong bites his trembling lip. "He hung up on me without saying a single word." Sardonically, "I'd say we're over, wouldn't you?"
"And all his posts on Me2day for your birthday and all?"
"Fanservice, hyung. Nothing more." Jiyong comments bitterly.
Seunghyun sighs. "You guys are so fucked up."
"Tell me something I don't know, hyung."
Seunghyun studies him carefully. "You know," he says slowly, "I thought you'd get back with Seungri by now."
"Well, you thought wrong." Jiyong masks his hurt by finishing his martini in record time.
"So what are you going to do now?"
"I don't know. There's nothing else. I've grovelled. And begged. And he still won't take me back."
Seunghyun claps his back sympathetically, "Maybe you should try again. "
Jiyong shrugs. Seunghyun hands him another martini. "Drink up, dongsaeng. All will look better in the morning."
Seunghyun laughs and Jiyong still drinks it anyway.
